The Aortic/Congenital Group

RPA has been a leader in the surgery of aortic valve and aortic disease for many years. Cardiologists at RPA have conducted a Marfans Clinic for over twenty years. There is growing awareness that there are a number of congenital diseases which affect the aorta and aortic valve and whose course is progressive. Diagnosis most commonly depends on the symptoms associated with this deterioration.

Research Focus:

• This group will conduct a birth to death study of these diseases to find other exacerbating or mitigating factors for these diseases.
• Identifying and refining simple tests (for example a blood test) to provide accurate early diagnosis
