The Surgeons of SCTS work closely with the Baird Institute.
Sydney Cardiothoracic Surgeons is a large specialist cardiothoracic group practice with rooms in Newtown.
Many aspects of cardiothoracic surgery are covered by the practice, including:
Heart surgery:
- Aortic root and aortic arch
- Surgery for heart failure (ventricular remodelling and cardiac resynchronization therapy)
- Coronary artery bypass grafting surgery
- Mitral valve repair
Lung surgery:
- Lung cancer
- Minimally invasive/thoracoscopic surgery
- Surgery for emphysema (lung volume reduction and endobronchial valves)
There are six surgeons in the practice who all work closely together - Prof Brian McCaughan, Dr Nick Hendel , Dr Matthew Bayfield, Prof Paul Bannon, Dr Michael Wilson & Assoc. Prof. Michael Vallely.
